  • Pinned

Door-to-door collection starts in Ward 7 (Hoaikyong) on 21 September

From Monday 21 September a municipal van will pass every lane in Ward 7 on alternate evenings between 6 pm and 10 pm. Please put your bins out by 5:30 pm: food waste in the green bin, everything else in the black one. The crew will ring a bell as it enters each lane. Bags left in the drain or on the embankment will not be collected.

  • Sabrang beach clean-up removes 1.2 tonnes of plastic

On Friday morning 140 volunteers from three schools and the fishermen’s cooperative worked alongside municipal crews along the Sabrang shoreline. Together they filled 96 sacks, mostly bottles, food wrappers and torn netting, which went to the transfer station for sorting. Thank you to everyone who came. The next clean-up is on the first Friday of October; meet at Sabrang ghat at 7 am.

  • Forty new covered bins along the Hnila Road

Forty covered 240-litre bins have been placed at the roadside between Teknaf Bazar and the Hnila junction, roughly one every two hundred metres. Each carries a printed code: scan it with your phone to report a full or damaged bin and the form will already know which one you mean. The bins are emptied on the afternoon round. Please close the lid after use so that dogs and crows cannot scatter the contents.

  • Hazardous waste collection day: Thursday 27 August

Old batteries, paint tins, broken tube lights, expired medicines and small electronics can be handed in at the municipal office yard between 9 am and 3 pm. Do not put these in the household bin: one leaking battery spoils a whole load of compost. Pharmacies in Teknaf Bazar also accept expired medicines on any day.
